Successful Breastfeeding Class in Newport Beach

Amanda JohnsOnce upon a time, women learned how to nourish their babies by watching women before them. When their time came, breastfeeding was not only familiar, but they had a village of women to turn to for advice and help. Today, for many reasons, it’s less likely that women have developed an intuitive understanding of the intricacies of feeding their baby. It may not always come as instinctively as it once did, but when you know the basics and gather a support system, you’ll maximize your chance at success. Join us to learn about the amazing way it all works, manage expectations, and set yourself up for a successful breastfeeding experience.

Topics include…

  • Anatomy & physiology of breastfeeding
  • Positioning and latch techniques
  • Common concerns
  • Jaundice
  • Establishing milk supply
  • Milk transfer: how to know if baby is getting enough
  • Returning to work/school and pumping
  • …and more!

To learn more or to register, please contact Amanda Johns at adj163@gmail.com. Classes are taught on the 3rd Saturday of every month at 3:00pm at Angell Chiropractic in Newport Beach.

About Amanda Johns

Amanda’s passion for supporting women through the postpartum period grew from her own experiences. While expecting her third baby boy, she knew that prioritizing her own nourishment and rest was a necessity for the whole family, not a indulgence. She emerged from the third postpartum experience much stronger when she had welcomed external support and made self care a priority.

She is trained as a CLEC (Certificated Lactation Educator Counselor) to offer assistance with early breastfeeding and prenatal breastfeeding education. Her postpartum care training includes an Ayurvedic Doula Certification course with Jenna Furnari and Lisa Arshwasky. She is also currently enrolled in INNATE postpartum care training. She has a background in massage therapy with supplemental training in prenatal, postpartum, and infant massage instruction. All of these are incorporated into her care offerings.
